This past Monday we had the wonderful opportunity to bring Linda Urban to our school! She was quite honestly the best guest author and speaker I have seen in a long while! It was so great to hear her talk about her writing process, finding her writing heart, and how the pursuit of perfection is unrealistic and rather we should focus on growth! Check out her website as she has a wide range of books published!
We have officially started Reading Buddies with Mrs. Huffman's class! Last week they met their reading buddy, and began the process of sharing their reading lives with each other! It is amazing to watch our class take on a wonderful mentoring and leadership role and I am excited to incorporate this into our Wednesday afternoons! So much fun to see!
KidBlog! Home Access:
Yesterday we finally were able to log into KidBlog and begin to explore our new technology tool! KidBlog will be an opportunity to share resources, hard work, and fun games and websites tied to our in class learning! Right now the posts will just come from me, however, I am excited to open up blogging to the entire class after building some comfort and expectations around KidBlog. If possible, I would love to have everyone check KidBlog once a week and add a comment or explore new posts! Currently there are some animal migration cams that do not work at our school (the site is blocked), which bummed us out a bit. That does mean such posts would be perfect to check out at home!
ST Math! Home Access
For ST Math at home, either download the App or visit stmath.com and click on Jiji (the penguin). If needed, I have provided the school code below:
Reflex Math will become a tool for us to become proficient and speedy with our Math fluency facts! Math fluency is quick recall of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts that in essence, is just memorization. Each student was given their personal login information via a small square piece of paper to take home. If that is lost at any point just let me know and I can print off another one! Also, if you have a tablet device, download the Reflex Math App! Reflex presents such practice in a fun and interesting way through a variety of games! On home sessions, work until you receive a green light in the upper right hand corner! On Monday we will incorporate this into our homework routine!
